First in the Lincoln tig welder lineup is the compact Invertec V155-S. While it’s not strictly a tig unit, it’s a dc welder that can be used to tig weld steel and stainless steel, it’s in the suitcase class of welders that are common on many construction job sites. It should be noted that this welder is NOT suitable for aluminum. It does NOT have a high frequency circuit or a pulse circuit.



These welders, and others like the thermal-arc and miller suitcase style welders, are often used extensively to weld schedule 10 stainless and stainless tubing in food and dairy plants for instance. Often you’ll see piping crews using this style of welder to hand fuse sanitary tubing, and it works very well. They also work very well with schedule 10 stainless pipe and filler wire. They’ll run a 3/32 7018 stick welding electrode fairly well too, but they aren’t ideal for 6010 electrodes. In any event, it’s a great little welder that’s easy to carry around, and can be powered by 115 volts. They really come in handy when you’ve got some welds to do that are in hard to reach places.
