Bought an old aead 200le-bought a new starter-installed it-started it 3 times-starter mount broke.I know that you have to have .020 clearance between the flywheel and the starter gears. Is this problem common for this welder or is there something I'm doing wrong?

It's not anything i'm familiar with, nor have i heard of that being a common problem.  Maybe others have though.  If it wasn't disengaging, it could cause it, but i'm assuming you set the clearance correctly.

Thanks for the reply,I don't think that it didn't disengage. I am trying to find a parts dealer for the starter, that will sell just the front housing. I bought the starter on ebay, and they don't sell the parts, just the starter. So if any one knows were I can get the front housing I would be thankful. Getting  back to the problem the starters front housing is a cast aluminum , and I don't know if you can get it in cast steel. I am thinking because you are spining the welder at the same time, it's puting a lot of torque on the starter. Thanks for your time.

Hey, no problem.  Glad to try and help.

It's a shame, i saw one of these welders for sale not too long ago.  It was in pieces as a parts welder, but it was complete.  I didn't have any room to store it so i didn't bother with it, but the guy was basically ready to give it away for scrap prices.

You might want to place a wanted ad for it in the classifieds section here.  We get some lurkers that browse that section, but don't post.  They may be able to hook you up.   I'll also keep an eye out and let you know if i hear of something.

Good luck in any event!

I just wanted to thank andy for the help he gave me on that starer problem. and now I have a problem with the Auto on/off switch. When it is in Auto on and I strike an arc to weld it will go up in r.p. m. to weld but wiil not drop to lower r.p.m. after 10 sec., but if I manually switch from Auto on to Auto off then back to Auto on it will drop to lower r.p.m. I am thinking it's in the PC1 board, It did work good when I first got the welder. Is there a manual to trouble-shoot the PC1 board step by step

Hi ggmkemzzz, sorry for the late reply.  I didn't see this question and it didn't show up as a new post for me.  It's probably because i did some upgrades.  Anyways, my apologies.

Just glancing at the manual for that welder, if  you look at figure 8-3 circuit diagram for automatic idle control circuit board PC1, it shows each of the individual board components which you're probably already aware of.  If you scroll further down you'll see in the parts lists each of the individual boards with a breakdown of all the components and their respective values.

Unfortunately troubleshooting at the board level can be a pain.  The first thing to do is to look for burnt wires/traces, or burned components.   If you don't find anything visibly wrong, then you'll need to check each component individually to see if it's within range of it's stated values listed in the parts breakdown.

If there's a step by step guide for it, i'm not aware of one.  The dealers may have something like that.

Hope that helps, although you've probably got it fixed by now!
